Summer Pet Safety: Preparing for Warmer Days
Summer Pet Safety: Preparing for Warmer Days. Check out our top 8 tips for a great summer
1. Keep Them Cool: Make sure your pets have plenty of water to drink. They get
thirsty just like us, especially when it’s hot.
2. Watch Out for Hot Ground: Pavement and sidewalks can get really hot and
hurt your pet’s paws. Try to walk them on grass or in shady areas.
3. Give Them Shade: Pets need a cool place to relax outside. Set up a shady
spot in your yard where they can rest comfortably.
4. Take It Easy: Avoid playing or walking your pet too much when it’s really hot
outside. It’s better to go out early in the morning or later in the evening when it’s
cooler.
5. Look for Signs: If your pet is panting a lot, drooling, or seems tired, it might be
getting too hot. Bring them inside or give them water to cool down.
6. Never Leave Them in a Car: Cars can get super hot, even with the windows
cracked. It’s not safe to leave your pet alone in a car, even for a short time.
7. Keep Their Fur Short: If your pet has long fur, consider giving them a trim to
help them stay cool. Brushing their fur also helps.
8. Check for Bugs: Summer brings out bugs like ticks and fleas. Use pet-friendly
bug repellents and check your pet regularly for any bugs.
