Ultimate Guide to Pet-Friendly Events in the GTA: Many owners feel bad while they go out to enjoy festivals and events while their beloved pet is sitting at home by themselves. Some Events and places don’t allow pets in for reasons like health codes. However, you pet lovers are in luck because many events throughout the GTA are pet-friendly! This is going to be your guide to everything you need to know about the pet-friendly events happening in the GTA.

Woofstock

Woofstock is one of the largest events in Toronto. It is the largest dog festival in North America. This event is more for dogs, so it may not be easy to bring other pets around, but that doesn’t mean you can’t. This event usually takes place in September and is located in Woodbine Park and along Woodbine beach. However, as of the time of this being written, Woofstock has been postponed until further notice. Watch their website for more up to date details

According to their website, “Woofstock® is a ground-breaking celebration of dogs, an occasion for humans and companion animals to party, and show off their talent and fashion-form and compete in fun and wacky contests.” So you may want to check it out for yourself.

This event holds hundreds of vendors for you to look at while walking around. You and your pet can do many things at this event; they host fun weekly contests that can show your pets’ talents or fashion. If you don’t need dog supplies, it is still a nice place to bring your pet to interact with people and other pets.

Harbourfront Centre Events (Depends)

The Harbourfront Centre is a great place for pet lovers because the events often hosted around the building are pet-friendly! There are multiple events hosted at the centre, including lectures, dance, visual arts, craft & design, literary arts, music, film, food, and many more. Your pet will only be able to attend events at the Harbourfront Centre with you if it is an outdoor event. Lucky for you, most of the events that are hosted in the summer take place outdoors. Go to the Harbourfront Centre’s website and look at their calendar to see what events are taking place.

Cherry Blossoms of Highpark

An event that happens once every year and only for a couple of days is the blooming cherry blossoms in High Park. This event has been moved online in the past two years, but once it becomes open in person again, you can feel free to bring your pets there to walk under these beautiful trees together. Since this event takes place in High Park, it is most undoubtedly fine for any pet you have to go along with you. If you want to catch the sight of these blossoms, make note that they usually bloom in late April or early May; remember they don’t bloom for that long, so if you want to see them, you shouldn’t wait.

Suppose you plan on going with your pet. In that case, you may want to make sure you and your pet are early risers and that your pet is okay with crowds because there are ordinarily many people and photographers going to experience the beautiful sight.

Toronto Outdoor Art Exhibition

This event is an annual art exhibition at Nathan Phillips Square in the heart of downtown Toronto. With it being an outdoor event, you can feel free to bring your small companion along with you. This event takes place every July and has hit its 60th year, as of 2021.

You can go down and check out the astounding artwork without leaving your pet at home, and you may even find something new to bring home with you. According to their website, they showcase “350+ curated visual artists & makers at Nathan Phillips Square every July.” So if you enjoy art and want to take your pet out on a stroll with you, you should definitely go check out the art exhibition.

Other Events

It may seem that there are not many events that will tell you they are pet-friendly. However, in the GTA, if the event is taking place in an outdoor setting, you will be able to take your pet along for the ride more often than not. Just remember to bring water and a couple of snacks with you.
