Why should a cat owner use a cat sitter?

Unlike most dogs, cats like to keep familiar surroundings. The experts agree that staying in their own homes keeps cats from enduring the stress of transport and being in contact with other animals. Cat Sitter Toronto Inc. ensures cats are able to maintain their regular routines with respect to diet and daily activity, plus get undivided attention during the daily visits. And in addition to ensuring a stress-free time for your cat while you are away on business or vacation, you too can have complete peace of mind knowing your cat is in good hands.

What cat sitting services do you offer?

Cat Sitter Toronto Inc. has a number of options to meet your cat sitting needs, including 30-, 45- and 60-minute visits of quality time with your cat. You can schedule twice a day visits if you feel one visit a day isn’t enough.

Why would I choose Cat Sitter Toronto Inc. over other pet sitting services?

As the owner and operator of Cat Sitter Toronto Inc., I am committed 100% to over-the-top cat care and complete customer satisfaction. As an experienced user of cat sitting services over the years, being able to go on a short business trip or multiple week vacation and not having to worry about my cats made the trip even more enjoyable. How does the cat sitter get the keys to my property?

You have a few options to grant us access to your home. Our preferred method is to use a lockbox. The benefit of using a lockbox is the key is then available to others that may need it – the cleaners, your contractor, etc.
If you live in an apartment or condo building with 24-hour concierge service, we will gladly pick up your keys and return your keys after each visit. Keep in mind, time spent picking up keys and returning them is included in visit time.
Please Note: Cat Sitter Toronto does not keep keys on file. Access to homes must be through a lockbox or concierge

Do you administer medications to cats?

We have experience in administering various forms of medications (as long as the cat is willing). NOTE: If your cat is on any medications, we may request a trial run. Regular rates will apply for this visit.

What happens if my cat becomes ill when I am out of town?

All cat sitters at Cat Sitter Toronto Inc. have been trained in pet first aid and are knowledgeable in handling emergency situations.

During our onboarding process you are asked to provide us with information regarding kitty’s health history. If your cat shows signs of illness or injury, we will make every attempt to contact you. If we are unable to reach you, we will call your emergency contact for direction. If we are unable to reach either we will rely on your vet’s discretion. All of our cat sitters have access to your vet information at each visit.

If your cat requires vet assistance, we will bring your cat to your vet. If it isn’t within their operating hours, we will bring kitty to the emergency vet.

Cat Sitter Toronto Inc. is not responsible for any cost incurred as a result of a vet visit. This is why we encourage you to call your vet prior to each out-of-town trip and have your credit card on file.

Additional time spent transporting your cat to the vet, whether for a vet visit or for after-care, will be billed at our hourly rate in effect.

Will you visit my cat every other day?

There are a couple reasons why we cannot do every-other-day visits. It’s a safety issue. We have seen instances where kitties have gotten themselves into unusual places and they need assistance to get out – got themselves trapped in a closet or bathroom, for instance. As well, cats are very good at hiding illnesses. A lot can change in 48 hours and by that time, it may even be too late for medical intervention at a vet. We visit every 24 hours to make sure kitty is healthy and has access to their food and water.

Do you send daily updates?

Towards the end of our visit, your catsitter will take a couple of minutes to write you a message about the visit, often including photos if kitties are willing posers. Should the sitter have any concerns about something that happened during our visit we will include details.

If we are visiting with your fur kids more than once a day, we generally send one update per day.

When will you be visiting my cat?

When there is no medical reason to visit at a specified time, we ask owners to book ‘Any time of day’ visits. In this case we choose, based on schedule and travel route, the best time to visit with your kitties.

You also have the option to tailor your visits to your travel plans. If you are leaving very early in the morning and would like a visit the same day, you can select a visit time customized to your travel schedule.

Twice-a-day visits are scheduled 8-12 hours apart. Kitties that require time-sensitive medicines will be given priority.

We do our absolute best to accommodate your visit time requests. However, please bear in mind, we are dealing with kitties and traffic… both are unpredictable.

Who will be visiting my cats?

Each home is assigned two primary cat sitters, along with back-up cat sitters. Typically the person coming to do your in-home consultation is one of your primary cat sitters. Your primary sitters will be completing your visits whenever they are available. But, like yourself, no one wants to work 365 days a year and everyone gets sick once in a while, or wants a day off. It is on these days that a back-up sitter will be doing the visits with your kitties.

What is your cancellation policy?

Cat Sitter Toronto Inc. requires a minimum 48-hour notice for cancellation of cat sitting services. Cancellations inside this notice period are subject to a charge equal to two (2) days of the booked service value, or the remaining booked visits, whichever is lesser.

May I leave my cat sitter a tip?

You sure can! It is not required, but if you feel your cat sitter has gone the extra mile, feel free to tip accordingly. All tips in their entirety will be given to your cat sitter and not held by Cat Sitter Toronto Inc. Tips can be left in 2 ways: you can leave a tip in your home in an envelope addressed to your sitters or you can add a tip to your invoice, tips can even be added after services have been completed by adding to past invoices.
